Men's Woven Shawl

A mens Kashmiri shawl is a large woven or embroidered wool shawl traditionally draped over the shoulders. Inspired by the rich textile heritage of Kashmir, these shawls feature iconic woven patterns including Kani, Jamawar, and classic checks. They are worn over sherwanis, kurtas, and suits for formal and festive occasions.

A Kani shawl is woven using small wooden spools called kanis — each colour is woven separately creating intricate multicolour patterns. A Jamawar shawl uses a brocade-style weaving technique producing rich, textured patterns. Both are premium woven styles with distinct visual characters.

The most common drape is to fold the shawl lengthwise and place it over one shoulder, letting both ends hang at equal length in front. Alternatively, drape it symmetrically across both shoulders for a more formal look.

Dry clean is recommended for wool and wool-blend shawls to preserve the weave and colour. If hand washing, use cold water with a gentle wool detergent. Never wring. Lay flat to dry in shade. Store folded in a breathable cotton bag.
